Backpack the Grand Canyon has been our largest project to date. We spent over a month hiking and shooting in the Grand Canyon to produce the video. It has placed in six international film competitions and is one of only a few DVDs sold in the Grand Canyon National Park. It has been highly rated by several Grand Canyon Park Rangers and other canyon experts. Other than my children it is the accomplishment that I am most proud of.
Although it is an instructional video, it is not a typical instructional video. It is entertaining, funny and contains scenes that you will not see unless you hike across the canyon. There is also some exclusive information about water sources, how to get permits and other “insider” information that I have been able to gather from real canyon experts who have become my friends over the last ten years. It is an invaluable tool for planning your first Grand Canyon hike.

Nursing a painful knee while filming in the Canyon. Not happy!
Here’s the latest review on Amazon. I am very grateful for the viewer’s response. Thank you, J.R. wherever you are.
“I backpacked the Grand Canyon for the first time in May 2012. This DVD was far and away the best resource I found for planning and preparation. I returned to it time after time to review information on preparation, training, equipment, trails, facilities, weather, and much more. This DVD is a great resource and I recommend it highly for anyone thinking about or planning a trip into the Grand Canyon, whether backpacking or hiking.”
